This 15-day, 14-night tour is the perfect way to discover northern Madagascar, giving you the opportunity to appreciate its impressive landscapes, exceptional flora and fauna, while discovering its vibrant culture. Do not miss this unforgettable adventure that will make you fall in love with Madagascar.
On the morning of the second day of your tour in northern Madagascar, accompanied by your guide, you board a speedboat en route to Ankify. The journey begins on the mainland, with your first stop: the Cyril plantation, specializing in the cultivation of cocoa, vanilla, pepper, and other crops in the region of Ambanja . You will then set off again to explore the ancient baobab tree in the Valley of Sambirano.
After lunch, you will take National Road No. 6 towards the village of Mahamasina to spend the night. Along the way, you will pass through the village of Ambilobe, which was one of King Antakarana's residences. A brief stop in the village for a quick visit to the local market. Check-in at your hotel at the end of the day.
Check-in, dinner, and accommodation at the Relais de L'Ankarana or similar.
In the morning, you will set out to discover the mystery of the Massif of Ankarana. This site is naturally home to unique flora and fauna on the island of Madagascar. Made of coral and stretching over a length of 35 km, you'll have the opportunity to explore its diversity: unique lemurs, birds, snakes, and more; the sacred cave populated by bats; the Tsingy with their sharp geometry; as well as the waterfalls and the water loss, which forms a deep chasm in the riverbed where the water seems to disappear during the rainy season.
After lunch, you will continue your journey to the Red Tsingy, another type of tsingy distinguished from the Bemaraha tsingy by its more rounded shape. The red tsingy, which is the result of the erosion of this sandstone-marl massif, was shaped by wind and rain. These tsingys are fragile, but you will have the opportunity to admire them, especially the large and small red tsingy, as well as the canyon.
At the end of the day, you will arrive in Joffre Ville and stay at the Hôtel de la Poste or similar.
On the fourth day of this journey through northern Madagascar, you will have the opportunity to explore Amber Mountain National Park, founded in 1958. Covering an area of 182 km² and located about 40 kilometers south of Diego Suarez, it is home to a dense tropical rainforest that can reach up to 40 meters in height.
This guided tour through the park will allow you to explore the vegetation characteristic of Madagascar's tropical rainforests. Whether you are a botany enthusiast or not, this lush world of orchids, palm trees, ficus trees, and medicinal plants is sure to pleasantly surprise you.
As for wildlife, this region is inhabited by a wide variety of lemurs: the crowned lemur, the Sanford lemur, the mouse lemur, the aye-aye lemur, and many more. Your excursion to northern Madagascar will also allow you to observe chameleons and various bird species, such as wild pigeons, lesser crested kingfishers, herons, parrots, and owls. You will also have the chance to see frogs, millipedes, and geckos.
You will be amazed by the splendor of the sacred waterfalls and crater lakes that border the forest. Enjoy beautiful photos of your trip to Madagascar.
Lunch at the campsite located within the park. Return to the hotel around 4:30 p.m.
Early departure for Ramena Beach. Along the way, be sure to appreciate the charm of the bay and Sugarloaf Mountain, as well as its history. Do not forget to capture unforgettable images during your visit to the north of Lemur Island. A brief visit is organized to the endemic baobab tree and its mysteries at the foot of the "French Mountain."
In Ramena, enjoy its magnificent beach by taking a sailboat equipped with additional motorization for a more authentic ride. During the crossing, you will likely encounter kitesurfers and other dhows. Indeed, the Diego area is a favorite spot for water sports enthusiasts and experts around the world. After an hour of sailing (departing from Ramena), you will disembark on a small islet sheltering traditional houses that will offer you shelter from the wind. There, you will have the opportunity to sunbathe, snorkel, or explore the islet.
At the same time, you will have the opportunity to taste Malagasy cuisine prepared by an experienced team, as well as seafood dishes such as grilled fresh fish, crab, or lobster, and coconut rice.
Time flies. Return to Ramena and then to Diego Suarez.
Day six of the Northern Madagascar tour: This day includes a transfer to the village of Ramena. We will have the opportunity to explore the sandy laterite paths and appreciate the true beauty of the wooded wilderness dotted with Pachypodiums, not to mention the sublime beach of the Bay of Sakalava. A magnificent white sand beach, caressed by the trade winds, delights kitesurfing and windsurfing enthusiasts from all over the world.
From the Bay of Sakalava, we head to the Bay of Dunes, another tropical treasure with crystal-clear seas. Continuing on, we come across the Bay of Pigeon, Cap Miné, a former French military site where a lighthouse and the remains of fortifications guarding the Bay of Diego Suarez are located. Do not miss the region's large historic baobab tree, a must-see.
Lunch in Ramena, followed by a swim! Return to the hotel around 4 p.m.
In the early hours of the morning, we set off for the big discovery of the sacred lake of Anivorano. To reach this superb lake, located 70 kilometers south of Diego Suarez, you will take a car. You will be surprised to discover the fabulous lake inhabited by crocodiles acting like human beings.
According to Malagasy legend, these crocodiles were once human beings. Zebu sacrifices and food offering rituals are frequently practiced there on Saturdays. If a wish they have made near the lake comes true, the villagers offer a zebu as a sacrifice. Children sing and clap their hands rhythmically to attract the crocodiles to the surface. At the distinctive sound of a piece of meat falling to the ground, the crocodile-men hasten to pick up this offering from the shores.
Lunch at a restaurant in Anivorano. Return to the hotel around 4:30 p.m.

A traditional canoe excursion to the forest beach offers a glimpse of the reserve's magic, evoking the desire to explore its lush vegetation.
Here, you will get a glimpse of the complexity of the primary equatorial forest, characterized by the absence of venomous animals, which provides refuge to a multitude of species that thrive on the tree branches, such as lemurs, the smallest species in the world, weighing only 30 grams. The Brookesia, the tiniest chameleon, is also found there, as well as various species of multicolored amphibians. In addition, there are century-old trees, palm trees, travelers' trees, and various crops such as pineapple, cocoa, and ylang-ylang.
Enjoy a pleasant lunch served in the fishing village with seafood on the menu.
