The Nord Express 3D/2N is a short yet complete adventure, ideal for discovering the iconic landscapes of northern Madagascar. In just three days, explore national parks, unique geological formations, tropical forests, and authentic villages.
Departing from Nosy Be, cross the northwest coast to reach Ankarana National Park, famous for its sharp tsingy formations, impressive caves, and exceptional biodiversity. Continue to Amber Mountain National Park, a cool oasis where waterfalls, lemurs, and tiny chameleons thrive. The journey ends at the spectacular Red Tsingy, a natural masterpiece sculpted by erosion, followed by a gourmet stop in Ambanja before returning to Nosy Be.
Your journey begins with a morning transfer from your hotel in Nosy Be to the port, followed by a speedboat crossing to Ankify. Upon arrival, you travel along the RN6 to the village of Mahamasina, gateway to Ankarana National Park.
The road passes through classic tropical scenery: cocoa plantations, mango trees, coffee crops, and traveler’s palms. After lunch, enjoy a two-hour hike along the Green Lake circuit in the heart of the Ankarana massif.
Discover spectacular limestone tsingy, true natural cathedrals shaped by erosion, and explore caves sheltering bat colonies, with walls covered in monumental rock formations. Ankarana is renowned for its rich endemic wildlife and flora.
Late afternoon drive to Joffreville for dinner and overnight at Nature Lodge (or similar), set in a peaceful natural environment.
The day begins with a visit to Amber Mountain National Park, located about 40 km south of Diego Suarez near Joffreville. This park is an ecological sanctuary known for its humid primary forest, sacred waterfalls, and cool climate.
Along shaded trails, discover lush vegetation including traveler’s palms, orchids, pandanus, palms, and giant trees. Rivers and waterfalls enhance the tropical scenery.
Wildlife is remarkable: lemurs (including the tiny Mouse Lemur, one of the world’s smallest primates), Brookesia chameleons, and more than 90 endemic bird species. A picnic lunch in nature allows you to fully enjoy this unique setting.
In the afternoon, departure for the Red Tsingy, extraordinary geological formations sculpted by rain and wind. Their intense red hues and rounded shapes create a striking spectacle, especially around the large and small tsingy and the surrounding canyon.
Return to Mahamasina in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Chez Laurent (or similar).
After breakfast, departure for Ambanja, a region famous for its cocoa, vanilla, coffee, and pepper plantations. A visit to Cyrille Plantation introduces you to the emblematic crops of northern Madagascar and the traditional processing methods behind these exceptional products.
After lunch, continue to Ankify to board a speedboat back to Nosy Be. The crossing offers one final view of the wild northern coastline.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and end of the tour, rich in hiking, untamed nature, spectacular tsingy formations, and cultural immersion.
